Director Manny Lopez, Real Men Sing
Manny is a 33 year old San Antonio, TX native, and attended Texas State University- San Marcos, and is a Phi Mu Alpha alumnus. While at Texas State he was classically trained as a lyrical tenor and took voice lessons under Cheryl Parrish, where he attained his B.A. in Music.Manny is a 14-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, where he currently holds a position as an International Youth in Harmony committee member. He is past Director of Youth in Harmony for the Southwestern District, Director of the San Antonio Chordsmen and Director of the Southwestern District Youth Chorus, “The Young Guns.” He has been a competitor on the International stage 13 out of the 14 years with both choruses and quartets; some of these include: The Heart of Texas Chorus; Collegiate quartet: Varsity (2009); Exclamation quartet (2012); The Marcsmen chorus (13th place, 2013; 20th place 2015).
Manny has been all over the map doing youth camps and youth workshops. Some of his annual camps include: BOB (Barbershop or Bust) sponsored by Cappella Rising Little Rock, Ark; Ontario Explosion Camp sponsored by the Ontario District and Music Educator Clinician of the Northeastern Harmony Explosion Camp, sponsored by the Northeastern District.
