About Us

The Asheville Chapter of BHS welcomes everyone to join as a member, as part of the Everyone in Harmony movement at BHS. 

In particular, we sing “Barbershop” – a style of unaccompanied four-part harmony. Our weekly Tuesday rehearsals are open for any guests.. Rehearsals are full of creative and artistic opportunities, laughter, education, leadership opportunities and fun.

We draw our members from Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, Transylvania and Madison counties and surrounding areas of western North Carolina and South Carolina. We find valuable skills and knowledge, and joyful and welcoming common ground in singing harmony.

Everyone in Harmony: a bold vision for a bright future

The gift of harmony is too wonderful for us to keep to ourselves. It is a gift that we are not only compelled to share, but one that we now have the capability, resources and unity of purpose to share with everyone.

We need to share it with young and old, with people of every color and every strata, with city people and country people and everyone in between, because the world needs what we have.

Harmony compels us to blend, to cooperate, to create beauty. Indeed, to love each other. It’s time to think of the gift of harmony not just as a treasure for our own enjoyment, but as a tool for direct social impact.

As members of the Barbershop Harmony Society, we are purveyors of Barbershop. This uniquely American vocal music art form innately delights singers and listeners alike. Through harmonious and hilarious performances, a cappella choral and quartet education, and philanthropic outreaches, We seek to inspire harmony and enrich the communities we influence.

Our Mission is:  To Enrich LIves Through Singing

• to share the joy of singing together while promoting personal musical growth and a cappella excellence
• to promote and support music programs that enrich local youth in our schools and elsewhere, and
• to perform for the benefit, enjoyment, and enhancement of our local community.

We are  a non-profit 501(c)3 Educational and Charitable Organization, and members of the Barbershop Harmony Society and the Harmony Foundation.
